Time to Regroup

With the recession, stock market melt-down, Wall Street crises, Madoff scandal, and the collapse of the U.S. auto industry, a lot of you wanted to crawl under your beds and stay there! I can't say I blame you. I thought about it myself. Well, it looks like we're going to get through this and you know what? We still have to plan our retirement, educate our kids, manage our investments and be smart about spending our money. Maybe this is a good time to see where we are and where we need to go. Keep on Saving

During the past months, I received a number of inquiries from journalists asking me to comment on the fact that workers were cutting back and even eliminating their 401(k) contributions. Understandably, many were concerned about their investments. Others were dropping out because their employers had suspended or reduced their contributions. This bothered me especially when I learned about federal employees dropping out of the very excellent Thrift Savings Program.
